The Logistics Institute
Efficiencies in logistics and supply-chain management can make all the difference between success and failure. Increasingly, it is supply chains which compete - not individual businesses or products. As a result, logistics and supply chain management have become crucial to corporate and economic growth.
The Logistics Institute, based at Hull Univeristy Business School has been set up to help regional companies compete more effectively in national and global markets. This can involve the development of appropriate supply chain strategies and the optimisation or design of warehousing or transport solutions.
They can also help with the identification of a site for a new operation, or the custom design or recommendation of technology solutions such as warehouse management systems, transport management systems, and Automatic Identification and Data Capture AIDC systems such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).
Yorkshire Forward has invested £3.67 million in the Logistics Institute. Additional funding has come from the Objective 2 European Regional Development Fund, the University of Hull, and private-sector contributions.
