It is because particle research, and the discoveries from it, can have such powerful commercial applications that the Particles CIC has been established at the Universities of Leeds and Sheffield.

Here, companies can explore new areas of potential, using world-class resources and research capabilities, whether that be developing new functional materials, making savings through process improvements or reducing waste or energy costs.

The centre is fully focused on helping companies achieve their commercial goals as well as offering a whole range of services including; information on funding available, making the most of research connections, provision of training and legal advice.

The team has a considerable track record of working with companies, notably in sectors such as chemicals, food, personal and household products, pharmaceutics and healthcare, water, mining and quarrying.
