Job matching
Whilst businesses in Yorkshire are making redundancies, there are many companies who are hiring more staff and Yorkshire Forward are continuing to help set-up new businesses and create new jobs. Yorkshire Forward’s aim is to keep driving economic growth during this difficult time and are encouraging employers to hire staff who are made redundant.
Jobcentre Plus
Jobcentre Plus works with a range of partners to provide tailored solutions to help minimise the impact and provide help and advice when redundancies are taking place. If you need to make groups of people redundant, then Jobcentre Plus and our partners can offer you the right support for you and your employees. To find out more information, visit the website or read their new information pack on ‘Finding your way to help for your business with training, recruitment and redundancies’.
Jobcentre Plus can help employers to fill their vacancies by using their Recruitment Advisory Services. Support can vary from planning for recruitment, through practical vacancy filling support such as matching and sifting application forms, to the longer term partnership working. By working with Jobcentre Plus through a Local Employment Partnership you could recruit candidates who have taken part in pre-employment training and make sure you have the right skills from day one. Jobcentre Plus can help you to recruit through the New Deal where you could receive subsidies and grants to cover the cost of training your new employees. Tailored support for individual recruitments can also be agreed at a local level. For more information on recruitment or to advertise your vacancy, contact your local Jobcentre Plus.
Outplacement
Outplacement is the process of facilitating a terminated employee's search for a new job by provision of professional services, such as counselling, paid for by the former employer. This provides valuable support to redundant staff during a difficult period of transition, communicating a positive message internally and externally around your attitude to your employees, whilst reassuring those who remain. Outplacement can even help to facilitate re-connection with former employees at a later stage of organisational development or when business starts to pick up. It is important to continue to recognise your staff’s contribution to your past, by helping them with their future.
There are many different outplacement companies that your business could use. To find out more visit :

Career Consultants
Professional career consultancy companies can offer help to your former employees by assisting in job searching and career management. There are many different companies that can provide help including some companies that specialise in finding recruitment for mid-senior level managers. Often this can prove less expensive than outplacement costs, whilst improving your company’s corporate social responsibility.
