What we do and Case Studies
We have won a number of national awards for transport activity. In the past 3 years we have invested over £20 million, adding to contributions made by other partners. This has led to extra trains to address capacity issues in the region and rebuilt rail access to the port of Hull, boosting the city's economy. We are currently working with Leeds City Council and Metro on their "Transport for Leeds" project that is looking at how transport supports the city's longer term growth.
We are also funding Metro and the West Yorkshire local authorities to support travel plan activity and to provide discounted travel tickets for job-seekers administered through Job Centre Plus.
Yorkshire Forward's prime role on transport is to influence, recognising that it is other departments and companies who ultimately deliver the transport plans. We do this by working with the new Regional Transport Advisory Board, through developing strong evidence through Northern Way and DaSTS, and through investment.
