Rural areas in Yorkshire & Humber
Yorkshire & Humber has some of the most beautiful and diverse countryside in the UK. From the patchwork Dales to the open moors and pretty coastal towns and villages, over 80% of Yorkshire & Humber is rural.
But however attractive a rural area may appear from the outside, living and working there can bring its own challenges. Whilst the availability and uptake of transport, telecommunications, and business support in rural areas may be low, the influx of potential entrepreneurs provides major opportunities to be grasped.
Yorkshire Forward is working hard to ensure that people in rural areas aren’t prevented from accessing the same life opportunities as those in urban areas, and that they’re just as able to start and run a business.
Market Towns in Yorkshire & Humber
We support sustainable rural towns in Yorkshire and Humber. By working closely with local stakeholders, we’re ensuring that our rural towns remain places where people can easily live, work, visit and invest.
LEADER & RDPE
As part of our responsibility for delivering the European Community support in our region, Yorkshire Forward manages LEADER, part of the Rural Development Programme for England. LEADER brings together local stakeholders to decide on how best to develop their local rural area.
