Bridlington

Bridlington joined the Renaissance Towns programme in 2002, as part of our second phase of investment.

What is the strategy for Bridlington?

The vision is for a socially inclusive and economically viable town. Proposals include creating a clearer town centre; improving public spaces; improving the quality of services available; and improving connections to the seaside.

The vision also considers joining the town centre to the sea, by changing public spaces and buildings along the harbour-front and by building a new marina.

How will this be realised?

  • Bridlington Spa—improving the Spa building to create a state-of-the-art entertainments and conference facility
  • Town centre redevelopment—providing an improved retail offer and leisure, office and housing developments at the heart of the town centre
  • Harbour and marina development—a better harbour and possible a new marina, improving the facilities for all harbour users, visitors and residents. This includes new public space and land-side development linked to the town centre
  • Urban realm—improvements to the public realm in key areas of the town centre, including Crescent Gardens and Chapel Street
  • Business premises improvement grants—enhancing the offer of local business and the built environment through internal and external improvements, and marketing/branding support
  • Carnaby Industrial Estate access road—increasing the availability of serviced land for business, enabling the expansion of local business, and the attraction of new investment into the town.

How much is being invested?

Yorkshire Forward will invest approximately £11m in the renaissance of Bridlington.
