Goole
Goole was designated a Renaissance Town by Yorkshire Forward in 2008.
What is the strategy for Goole?
A Strategic Development Framework now exists for the town, developed by a consultant team led by LDA Design. The vision for Goole promotes the town’s role as a ‘Haven of Opportunity’. The Renaissance Plan focuses on making Goole a great place by reconnecting the town with its waterfront and enhancing its competitiveness and distinctiveness.
How will this be realised?
To achieve this vision, several projects have been planned, including:
- Junction—An auditorium, a spacious workshop, a community room and café bar. Supported with investment from Yorkshire Forward, Arts Council England Goole Town Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council
- Town Centre: Aire Street Triangle — Reconnecting the town to its waterfront
- Salt and Pepper Pots – Illuminating these key asset water towers and developing new business units and green infrastructure.
- Capitol Park — Enabling new employment opportunities
- New Leisure and Educational offer – enhanced further education provision, a Sports Village and linkage to the countryside.
How much is being invested?
Yorkshire Forward are investing £1.7m into Junction and further renaissance projects will be developed.
