Hornsea Projects

Renaissance Market Towns projects in Hornsea include:

  • Floral Hall - an options appraisal study has been commissioned for the proposed new Floral Hall facility in Hornsea. The study brief was agreed by the project working group comprising Yorkshire Forward, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Lets Go Hornsea! The remit of the work was to identify the most economically beneficial investment for the town of Hornsea for Yorkshire Forward and the best possible outcome for the town in providing a significant role in the future regeneration of the town and seafront; the study took into account proposals and opinion of both the Local Authority and Lets Go Hornsea! Yorkshire Forward has accepted the findings and recommendations of the report and the next step is for both East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Lets Go Hornsea to discuss the study and its findings with their members and report their views back to Yorkshire Forward.
  • Rural Target Fund - small projects delivered by East Riding of Yorkshire County Council, funded by Yorkshire Forward’s RMT programme. These have included:
    - Transpennine Trail – an award-winning project on former the railway lines which linked Hornsea to Hull until 1964. To find out more visit www.transpenninetrail.org.uk
    - Hornsea Boat House – the location of the boathouse was not ideal as it was some distance from the slipway and on a park where children may be playing. In order to reduce crucial call-out times and to make it for safer call-outs, a purpose-built boathouse on land adjacent to the slipway has been built. This has also enabled them to expand their rescue service to include accident prevention and education, with the new Operations Room doubling as a classroom.
