Howdenshire
Located adjacent to the M62, near the Humber docks, 21 miles from York and 25 miles from Hull, Howden is an historic market town with an attractive Georgian centre and joined the RMT programme in 2004.
Located in the centre of the town is an impressive 14th century Grade I Listed Minster tower which is visible for miles around. The central market square once played host to one of the greatest horse fairs in Europe, when representatives of the 19th-century European royal houses would come to buy animals for their country's armouries. The narrow cobbled back-streets would have echoed with the sounds of bartering, and the celebrations in Howden's glut of public houses.
Howden has a direct rail service to London Kings Cross and international airports at Doncaster (23 miles), Humberside (33 miles) and Leeds Bradford (48 miles).
