Richmond & Catterick Garrison

Situated in Richmondshire in North Yorkshire, Richmond is a thriving historic market town with a Norman castle, Georgian architecture, a cobbled marketplace, monuments and abbeys. Near to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it has access to countryside of national value. Neighbouring Catterick Garrison is the UK's largest military base.

Richmondshire joined the RMT programme in 2004 and developed the Richmond Heritage Partnership Scheme. More recently projects have been delivered through the Programme Pilot which focuses on the RMT area of Richmond and Catterick Garrison. Much of the funding has gone into Richmond to strengthen it in preparation for the proposed town centre developments at Catterick Garrison where a whole new, modern town centre is planned – as part of the proposal to make the Garrison into a super Garrison.

Richmond is close to the A1 and A66 and has excellent road links to Darlington and Teesside, and good links to Durham Tees Valley Airport.
