Herbs Unlimited
Introduction
- Staff training on food hygiene, health & safety and product quality
- Workshops led to major contracts with supermarkets
Summary
Herbs Unlimited is now one of the leading Northern suppliers for baby leaf salads and fresh herbs, thanks to support from the Regional Food Group, which is funded by Yorkshire Forward.
As a member of the Regional Food Group (RFG), Herbs Unlimited is entitled to continued business support. The RFG helped Herbs Unlimited install a Managed Online Learning Environment (MOLE) to train staff in food hygiene, health & safety and product quality.
Dodd continues: “It’s a much more efficient way of training because we don’t lose people for an entire day. They can fit the training in when we are quieter.”
Dodd states that attending the RFG’s ‘Meet the Buyer’ events and ‘Skilfully’ workshops has helped Herbs Unlimited attract new business, and led to contracts with both J Sainsbury and Waitrose.
The company has also benefitted from RFG technology support. RFG food technologist Catherine Riley worked with the team to create and implement management systems to satisfy the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety, achieving the top Grade A.
