Yorkshire Forward worked with Thales UK to locate a suitable site for a new £10 million high-level data centre. A location in Doncaster, South Yorkshire was chosen, which secured the company’s move to South Yorkshire over three other potential sites in Europe.
The centre now provides world-class IT solutions that powers all Thales’ businesses and their external clients’ IT systems. This requires highly skilled IT experts and 10 IT/computer science graduates, which are recruited to the company each year.
Yorkshire Forward also set up links between Thales UK and regional universities to ensure they can access the calibre of employees required. Chris Church, project manager at Thales Information Systems Ltd, said: “With Yorkshire Forward’s assistance we were able to make a comprehensive decision on the best location for our data centre. Being situated next to a customer, the excellent digital infrastructure and the skills base were all key factors in our decision.”
