Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire
Introduction
Yorkshire Forward has helped VANEL to fund the Third Sector Hub, which helps voluntary organisations in NE Lincs to become more effective.
Summary
Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire (VANEL) develops, promotes, informs and supports the local voluntary, not-for-profit and charitable sector. In 2008 it set up the Third Sector Hub programme.
The Third Sector Hub functions as a central resource for a large number of third-sector organisations in the area. It sets up networks which bring voluntary organisations together; provides training courses to improve the skills of those working in voluntary organisations; and offers support and advice.
The first year of the Hub’s operation was very successful, with almost twice the targeted number of voluntary workers trained. As a result, third-sector organisations are now performing better and have the confidence and skills to submit tender bids. Several organisations were helped to promote themselves at VANEL’s ‘Showcase’ event, initiatives were started to help groups improve their sustainability; and a number of groups were supported on a one-to-one basis.
