Bradford chiefs welcome Ryanair move

Bradford councillors have welcomed the news that low cost airline Ryanair is to set up a new base at Leeds Bradford International Airport, saying it will boost the local economy.
Around 1,000 new jobs are expected to be created when the Dublin-based company starts operations next year and the $140 million (£84 million) investment is set to attract more tourists to the region.
The move will offer 14 new routes, a total of 17, to Ryanair customers from the Yorkshire airport and Coun Adrian Naylor, Bradford Council's executive member for regeneration and the economy, said not only was it "extremely good news" for Bradford, but it justified the planned major expansion of LBIA.
Coun Naylor said: "This is extremely good news and a major boost for the airport which is going through an expansion programme. It shows that the decision to invest in expanding Leeds Bradford Airport was the right one.
"This decision by a major airline such as Ryanair is also testament to the fact that the Bradford and Leeds areas do have something to offer and are worth investing in."
Two new Ryanair aircraft will be based at Leeds Bradford and the number of passengers using the airport is expected to rise to one million per year.
