Council approves leisure venue plan

Rotherham-based leisure company Oak Holdings is a step closer to getting started on one of Europe's largest undercover destinations.
It submitted a revised planning application to Rotherham Borough Council to be allowed to build on the site, which will house the YES! project, a mixed-use leisure and activity venue.
The council approved the plans, which have now been recommended for approval to the Local Government Office.
Oak had previously applied to extend planning permission at the YES! site, near Rother Valley Country Park, to create an undercover, leisure-based, resort and convention destination spanning 327 acres.
Last year the firm acquired the 1,000-acre Rother Valley County Park. In October it also bought Ringwood Town & Country Experience, a heritage centre, after asking shareholders to raise £1.5 million.
In addition to its planning consent news, the company also announced that Graham Axford had resigned as a non-executive director.
