Council may expand £1m sport centre

Bradford Council is considering expanding a £1m sports centre project currently under construction in Bradford Moor.
If adjacent "derelict" garages are knocked down, an outdoor play area could be added to the football, cricket, tennis, and athletics facilities on the site.
Bradford Council's park and recreational spaces manager, Ian Day, was quoted by the Bradford Telegraph & Argus as saying: "We have been approached about the removal of four garages at Gilpin Street recreation ground to help enlarge a project that is being delivered by the Karmand Community Centre to build a new sports facility."
He added that the removal would allow the informal play area's construction, which is under consultation with councillors.
The Karmand Community Sports Association has been launched already as a preliminary part of the sports complex project.
