Enterprise encouraged among youth

Bradford Council's department of services to children and young people has unveiled an initiative to encourage youth to develop enterprising ideas.
The council has called upon budding entrepreneurs and teachers to take part in the Step Up Enterprise scheme to boost enterprising activities and education across Bradford.
Enterprise enablers will be based in the five constituencies and will promote the initiative to schools, colleges and local communities.
They will also build up links with businesses in order to offer mentoring and support sessions for students.
The first batch of students to attend a day of special workshops aimed at developing enterprising ideas were from Immanuel College in Thackley.
Five to 19-year-olds and groups can come up with creative ideas and win one of 30 finalist places to introduce their products or businesses at a market in the city centre next June.
Councillor Michael Kelly, Bradford Council's executive member for services to children and young people, said: "The scheme will champion enterprise activity throughout the Bradford district helping to bring schools, colleges, community groups and businesses together to share best practice, give youngsters advice, create an enterprise culture and improve community relations while building stronger links."
