Leeds industrial coating contractor Austin Hayes has secured a new £18.5 million contract to supply refurbished munitions packaging components to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
A range of more than 50 components will be provided under the long-term deal for use by munitions makers supplying British troops in training and in operations around the world.
The contract could be worth £40 million for Austin Hayes over the next 10 years, while it is expected to help the MoD make savings of around £20 million a year.
An estimated half a million items, which would otherwise have to be replaced with new ones, are expected to be restored to as-new condition.
Managing director Nik Vjestica said: "This contract will provide a stable platform from which we can work with the MoD to develop ever-more cost effective solutions for the taxpayer."
