Leading retailer Marks and Spencer has opened a new £40 million distribution centre in West Yorkshire.
It is said that the 1.1m sq ft warehouse in Bradford would provide employment to more than 1,200 people by next year.
The warehouse will initially distribute furniture and equipment to all M&S stores, while from next year it will supply non-refrigerated food as well.
The Bradford building is the first of four giant warehouses that will improve the way M&S transports goods around the country.
Sir Stuart Rose officially opened the centre, describing it as an important symbol of the firm's turnaround under his chairmanship.
He said: "I'm pretty proud to be here because this is a hugely important symbol of what we have tried to do.
"Customer service is about making sure when a customer comes in they get a smile and the help they need but its also about making sure that when a customer comes in the product is available and is right."
