New garage door supplier launches
31/08/2010
A new garage door manufacturing enterprise, jointly owned by two rival supply businesses, has been started in South Yorkshire.
Roller garage door maker AlluGuard was created after Jeremy Baker of The Garage Door Company in Sheffield, and Darren Baker of JB Doors in Rotherham received start-up finance as part of Investing for Growth initiative funding from Yorkshire Bank's South Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre (FSC).
The new Dinnington-based firm, which is set to shift into a 8,000 sq ft base in Rotherham this autumn, has already created seven jobs, with an additional eight jobs expected within the next year.
The firm, which recently won a major supply contract from Garage Door Systems, Ballymena in North Ireland, will manufacture garage doors for its owner companies as well as installers throughout the UK.
It will have both Jeremy Baker and Darren Baker, who are unrelated, as joint managing directors.
Jeremy Baker, founder of The Garage Door Company, said: "Moving into manufacturing has come about for several reasons. If installers get a poor product or service from manufacturers, it creates a greater risk that we shall do the same for our own customers.
"There are relatively few garage door manufacturers and the trend is to make the most cost-effective doors whereas we want to make the highest-quality doors we can with additional safety and security features."
