Rotherham central to manufacturing
16/11/2009
Rotherham's Advanced Manufacturing Park played host to its second major manufacturing conference in as many weeks, reaffirming South Yorkshire's claim as the heart of advanced manufacturing in the UK.
Over 150 delegates from across the country attended the 2009 MWP Summit, which was organised by Metal Working Production magazine. The speakers included AESSEAL's Chris Rea, David Heck from Boeing and Gardner Aerospace's Nick Guttridge.
Delegates were informed of the progress of Bromley Technologies and Fripp Design, which are located with the Advanced Manufacturing Park.
Bromley Technologies uses aerospace and Formula One technology to assist local winter sports athletes, while Fripp Design showed the delegates how work with computer-aided design, rapid prototyping and how manufacturing can aid replacement and reconstructive surgery.
Senior business development manager for the South Yorkshire Advanced Manufacturing and Materials team Joe Anwyl said the conferences allowed local companies to hear from the top national and international experts, while also showcasing the advanced manufacturing technologies in the region.
