Rotherham receives tourism boost

A thriving Conference Ambassador Programme by Yorkshire South Tourism is going to extend its reach to promote Rotherham.
The organisation has mainly used ambassadors from Sheffield to attract new events worth £1.4 million but they are now looking to recruit ambassadors from the Rotherham area.
Speaking at the launch Mike Smith, the Director of Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, urged guests to get involved and help to put the town on the map.
He said: "Like all great ideas, the Ambassador Programme is really simple: use Rotherham business people who attend or are invited to conferences and events to promote Rotherham to host future conferences and events. It's that simple."
Yorkshire South is hoping to put on a number of events across the area to recruit more people for the programme.
Chris Welsh, Yorkshire South Tourism chairman, said: "Business people in the Yorkshire South region are talented, dedicated and proud of where they come from.
"This is why they are the perfect people to take the message of the region's outstanding conference offer to the rest of the country and beyond. The team at Yorkshire South is here to make that job easy."
