Strategy to spark region's economy

A new Government strategy will help tackle youth unemployment and boost the economy in Yorkshire, it has been claimed.
The National Skills Strategy is designed to give people advice and training to help them play a role in driving economic growth in their local area and across the country.
The strategy includes an expansion of advanced apprenticeships which will create 35,000 new places over two years. It also hopes to give adults a personal skills account, which will allow learners to find the best training schemes for their needs.
Minister for Yorkshire and The Humber, Rosie Winterton, said: "As Minister for Yorkshire and The Humber the development of skills has been one of my top priorities.
"The strategy demonstrates the Government's commitment to ensuring this country - and this region - has the skilled and qualified workforce it needs to encourage enterprise and to create a prosperity.
"This is also an example of the Government investing in our young people to ensure they are not excluded from the jobs market but are given opportunities for training and development."
