A major award has gone to a tool retailer which not only survived the recession but recently saw sales increase by between 15% and 30%.
AC Jones, of Whetley Hill, Bradford, was runner-up in the best tool retailer category at the DIY Week awards.
The firm, employing three full-time staff, has thrived in the economic downturn by supplying local tradesmen, which it has done for more than 40 years.
Stephen Zsigmond bought the shop four years ago after running a wholesale tool supply which saw AC Jones as its major client.
Zsigmond said business was particularly tough between Easter and the summer.
"Where possible, we try to compete on price with the larger outlets and trade catalogues. We have customers coming here from Halifax, Wakefield, Leeds and other places, in addition to many Bradford-based tradesmen."
The firm also kept up trade by supplying training establishments like Bradford College with trade course tools.
