East Yorkshire-based travel firm Think Galapagos has launched a new bird watching and wildlife travel agency that aims to help conserve the vulnerable wildlife in Ecuador.
Think Birding Ecuador, which is formed in collaboration with Amazanga Expeditions, an arm of the Napo Wildlife Centre - a sustainable living eco-tourism project in Ecuador, will organise tailor-made, expert-led birding holidays in Ecuador and the Galapagos islands.
A portion of the income generated by the birding tour organiser is set to be reinvested in projects such as conservation, environmental education and indigenous health.
Think Birding Ecuador's holidays are suitable for novices as well as experienced birders, with guests expected to see upwards of 500 different bird species in an average 15-day trip comprising small groups of four to eight guests.
Rachel Dex, managing director of Think Galapagos, said: "This is a very exciting new project for us. Our partners from Ecuador's Amazon region are one of the most successful indigenous sustainable living eco-tourism projects in Latin America.
"They have an excellent track record of providing exceptional wildlife holidays, whilst at the same time protecting an amazing corner of the Amazon Rainforest and we look forward to helping them grow this project to help protect forests in other parts of Ecuador."
