Yorkshire to benefit from Olympics

Yorkshire tourism is in one of the best positions to benefit from the 2012 London Olympics, according to a leading official.
Paul Deighton, who is the head of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), made the uplifting prediction on a visit to the region.
He believes that there is great potential for businesses to capitalise on 2012 because of the county's sporting heritage, regional development and diversity.
Mr Deighton was on the tour of Yorkshire where he met business leaders in Sheffield, watched young artists in a cultural project called 'Precious Cargo' and went to a new outdoor gym in Wakefield.
The visit was arranged by Yorkshire Gold, which is the regional committee charged with making sure as many local firms make the most of the games as possible.
Mr Deighton said: "We can't be complacent. We need to keep promoting the opportunities that the games offer.
"I think that businesses are starting to realise the very real opportunities that London 2012 offers. Indeed many Yorkshire firms have already benefited such as York-based Portakabin."
