National Training Awards
03/03/2010
Businesses in Yorkshire and Humber are being encouraged to prove they put their people first and enter the 2010 National Training Awards.
The Awards identify and celebrate organisations and individuals that have achieved outstanding business and personal success through investment in training.
They are unique because entries are received from all sectors, industries and areas across the UK, and in return the entrants are provided with the exceptional opportunity to have their training judged against the best in the UK.
The awards are the premier accolade for training and development in the UK and are run by UK Skills on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
The bar in Yorkshire and Humber has been set high – in 2009 nine companies landed regional awards and four secured national awards and an invitation to the NTA UK Gala, where Grimsby-based PS Transport beat off nationwide competition to be crowned NTA National Winner of the Year in the Small Employer Category Award.
Ruth Adams, Assistant Director of Skills at Yorkshire Forward, said: “More than a quarter (26%) of award winners have seen bottom line benefits, and winning a National Training Award brings with it a real sense of pride and kudos.
“The external recognition can also help organisations really raise their profile whilst demonstrating their commitment to investing in their staff - positioning them as a forward-thinking company and giving them a competitive edge. For individuals, a career can be transformed and motivation boosted.”
In advance of the closing date for entries on Friday 23 April, the NTA are hosting seven free sessions in Yorkshire and Humber at which experienced NTA professionals will to take potential entrants through the process of preparing their entry and give o hints and tips as to how to prepare.
