16/11/2009
Digital companies from across the region were celebrating after scooping nearly half the awards available at the Drum Awards for the Digital Industries (DADI) ceremony, which took place at Leeds Royal Armouries last week.
Yorkshire and Humber-based companies landed 13 of the 30 awards up for grabs at Friday’s Yorkshire Forward-sponsored black-tie event, which signaled the culmination of the region’s Digital Week 2009, in association with “Leeds: Live it, Love it”, marketing Leeds’ unique brand aimed at attracting both businesses and tourists to the city.
Winners from the region were:
MadeByPi: Grand Prix award for the ‘Best in Show’; Chris Hemingway for Creative Individual of the Year; Best Financial Services Website of the Year; Best Podcast or Blog.
Fuse8: Digital Agency of the Year; Best Not-For-Profit Website or Campaign; Best Professional Services Website or Campaign; Best Use of Affiliate Marketing.
Sense Internet UK: Best FMCG Website or Campaign.
Blueclaw Media Ltd: Best Use of Organic Search; Best Use of Paid Search.
Bloom Media: Best Use of Social Networking.
DigForFireDMG: Best public Sector Website or Campaign.
Common Agency, Numiko, Elmwood, Fuse8 and Sense Internet UK also received commendations.
Jim Farmery, Assistant Director of Business at Yorkshire Forward, said: “The success of the region’s companies in this year’s DADI awards should come as no surprise given the number of hugely talented people in the region who work in the sector.
“I have long believed that the Yorkshire and Humber region is a hot bed of talent when it comes to digital industry innovators, and this success proves that is the case.
“Digital industries play a key part in the region’s economy, and with the awards due to be held in Leeds for the next two years there is no reason why these companies can’t continue to go from strength to strength.”
As well as Yorkshire Forward, the DADI Awards 2009 were sponsored by Holbeck Urban Village, Marketing Leeds and Leeds Media.
